Many cancer treatments require long-term massage modifications. An oncology trained therapist has completed comprehensive training in general massage therapy as well as additional specialized training that addresses the side effects of cancer and/or it's various treatments. Your oncology massage therapist will adapt the massage techniques to safely nurture bodies affected by cancer and it's treatments.
Some of the benefits of an oncology massage include reduced anxiety, improved sleep, enhanced body image and overall wellbeing. When providing massage for someone who has a history of cancer treatment, primary massage considerations include bone integrity, vital organ involvement and compromised lymph nodes.

This is a reason for the therapist to take a thorough client's medical history. Massage therapy is a great way to care for chronic injuries, soft tissue disorders, repetitive strain, and stress management.
